The restless weed
there in the grass
begs for me to pluck it.
It eggs me on
as if to say,
“I dare you.”
I am not so easily led
to violence
without thought.
If I were to look closer,
I might see
the stillness,
the shyness,
the purpose,
of so many thorns.
of so many thorns.
